Day 7

Hi, welcome to day 7. The last day of this introductory course.

If you decide to continue with our programs (both the online and camp programs), you will get to continue along this great and fun path of learning. What you will be learning is how to be human in the natural world. At our camps you will be mostly learning through play and fun challenges. Here online you will get the opportunity to learn from Masters and Elders who have thankfully told their stories in videos and stories and pictures and songs. This online learning as we said at the beginning will be your modern ‘stories around the fireplace’. It will also be a place where you can tell your stories, and on this last day we want to invite you to take pictures of your journal pages, take pictures and even video of your sit spot areas and also do a self interview.

Here is an example of a group of students in the Ecuadorian Amazon telling a little about themselves and their nature program and sustainable living school.

Of course you will need a camera or camera phone or smart phone to take video and photos and you will need to learn how to post them on the blog page. It’s really quite easy and at the end of today’s page, we will post a how-to-video to help you with that. If you really don’t have access to a camera, then put together your journal pages and share them with someone you know so you get a chance to tell your story.

Today when you head out toward your sit spot you may have your camera or phone. Remember that your camera or phone is like your bow and arrow. You don’t want to just be shooting all over the place. Keep it in your pocket and use all your senses as you move and explore. Your camera is there to record something that you have already experienced. It will never fully record the live experience but it can help you to tell the story.

Before you head out, take a look at these cards that you can print and cut out and take with you. If you do see a clear animal track, these cards will start to help you identify what animal it may be. This is the start of learning the ABC’s of tracking.

In the video below, Mike Kessler talks about tracking again with some of his students. Even though you may be taking the cards with pictures of clear tracks, you may not see any clear tracks. These cards will help you.

So happy sit spot and tracking! Also good luck with recording your sit spot, or anything interesting you may find while you’re out tracking on your way to your sit spot. Pictures of your sit spot from each of the four directions would be great. And of course if you can video yourself giving an introduction to who you are and how this journey has been for you so far, that would be really great.

Please see the ‘getting started’ page of this site for information on how to post pictures and video to the site.

Congratulations on finishing this 7 day course! To continue with our programs and your learning journey with us go to page 8+ and find out some of the options….

Goodnight and Goodluck.
